They are major regulators of the planet's temperature, and most of the oxygen we breathe is generated in the sea.

Thank you for being drawn to read this post, as this is a very important topic and undoubtedly the main purpose of this brand. For several years now, I have felt that with Cuchara o Tenedor I wanted to bring about change. My intention in creating these pieces of jewellery by recycling cutlery is to raise awareness and work with Marine Organisations, Associations working in the conservation and protection of marine wildlife.

We are at a turning point. We need to be aware of the responsibility of our actions and the consequences they entail. We have an important role to play during our time on this planet, so it is essential to be aware of the great change we are bringing about in the world and, above all, to be aware of the opportunity we have to protect it.

We are still on time, but we must start taking action, we must save the oceans of the planet and protect them from threats as serious as toxic waste, plastics that end up in them, and overfishing. Right now, we're all seeing the damage our time on this planet is doing to it. There's a lot to cover, lots of little details we can improve, but mainly what we need is more information and education about sustainability, because otherwise the price we'll pay will be very high and hard to reverse.

The Sustainability It is development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the needs of future generations.

I recommend the documentary Mission Blue, narrated by Sylvia Alice Earle, an impressive woman with a beautiful and important purpose. Sylvia is now 85 years old and is an oceanographer, scientist, engineer, teacher and explorer of parts of the Earth that few can even imagine, including depths that were once thought unreachable. She was a pioneer in ocean exploration, which led to her being proclaimed the Queen of the Deep. Throughout her life, she has had the opportunity to observe the oceans and seas during thousands of hours of diving, which has given her an objective perspective on the gravity of the situation, as she has seen the great change that the entire ecosystem has undergone in the last 60 years.

-IF WE DON'T LOOK AFTER THE OCEANS, NOTHING ELSE MATTERS-

(Sylvia Earle)

Currently the oceans are in crisis, More than half of the world's reef corals have disappeared, and as Sylvia says, a planet without oceans looks a lot like Mars. They play an indispensable role in our lives, as they provide the balance that makes life possible. Apart from generating most of the oxygen we breathe, the seas absorb much of the carbon dioxide we produce.

We need to rethink everything, rethink the way humans relate to nature. Overpopulation is a major threat, and the release of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere is driving major climate changes that we are already seeing.

Our future depends on protecting the oceans., Just as there are protected areas on land, there should be areas in the ocean where fishing, dumping and drilling are prohibited, and where ecotourism is promoted. These areas of the ocean are called Hope Spots. If we take action and do our bit, we can improve and help preserve large areas of the ocean so that they can recover.

There are currently 76 Hope Spots around the world, including the Balearic Islands, which were the first Hope Spot in the Mediterranean, Tenerife and La Gomera.

This year, for International Oceans Day, we teamed up with Emociones Brand to create the A-MAR necklace, with which we donate 7% to marine organisations.
