However, it was two years later when it was renamed International Women's Day and International Peace Day.<\/p>\n<p><a><strong>Why 8 March?<\/strong> <\/a>In the midst of the Industrial Revolution, on 8 March 1857, thousands of textile workers demonstrated in New York City to protest the working conditions they were forced to endure. They demanded a reduction in working hours and an end to child labour.<\/p>\n<p>From then on, numerous demonstrations and movements took place in different countries, which served to set the date for the <strong><em>International Women's Day on 8 March.\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><em>Women in jewellery and other artistic disciplines<\/em><\/h2>\n<p>Women such as Frida Kahlo, Cleopatra, Coco Chanel, Marilyn Monroe, Nina Simone, and Aretha Franklin, among many others, have been role models in different artistic disciplines and were undoubtedly<strong><em> icons of society<\/em><\/strong> who made a mark on feminism with their lives and professions. .<\/p>\n<h6><strong><em>Coco Chanel<\/em> :\u00a0<\/strong>Although we associate it with haute couture, in 1932 it launched its first <strong>jewellery collection<\/strong>, which did not leave French society and contemporary brands indifferent.<\/h6>\n<h6><em><strong>Frida Kahlo:<\/strong>\u00a0<\/em>The jewellery that the famous Mexican artist wears in her paintings is a window into her identity. In her works, she captured the physical and emotional challenges she endured, as well as her <strong>feminist sentiments<\/strong>.<\/h6>\n<h6><strong><em>Cleopatra:<\/em><\/strong> She was one of the most important women of antiquity, her jewellery in <strong>snake form<\/strong> have been worn on women's wrists. Originating in the Hellenistic period<strong>,<\/strong> Snake-shaped bracelets, symbols of fertility and immortality. These amulets, often in the form of necklaces, were seen as powerful protectors of their wearers and as a means of obtaining the favour of the gods.<\/h6>\n<h6><strong><em>Marilyn Monroe:<\/em><\/strong> The sex symbol of the 1950s is inextricably linked to the <strong>glamour, wealth and diamonds<\/strong>. In some of her most iconic images, she wears maxi earrings, diamond necklaces or more minimalist hoops.<\/h6>\n<h6><strong><em>Nina Simone:<\/em><\/strong> This great blues and soul singer, throughout her life<strong>\u00a0fought for the freedom of his art, his music and his identity<\/strong> as an African American. Throughout her career, her very identity broke taboos: Nina Simone was a bisexual black woman in a world dominated by heterosexual white men.
