It is said that Neanderthals were the first to use jewellery. Historians believe that they may have made the world's first jewellery around 130,000 years ago by assembling animal teeth and shells.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Years later, in societies such as Egypt and Greece, men and women hoarded gold and silver because they believed it was the way to attract the attention of their gods. The more jewellery they wore, the more attractive they were to the deities who controlled health, wealth and the afterlife.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Soldiers in ancient Greece also wore jewellery into battle. The leather and metal bracelets on their uniforms were an attempt at spiritual protection in combat, a practice that was later adopted by Roman troops as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For pirates, jewellery was a form of life insurance. Years later, during the wars of the 20th century, identity tags and bracelets for men became a very popular fashion item and also a necessity, with their \u00abidentification tags\u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nowadays, more and more men like to wear jewellery other than just a watch, and according to the New York Times, it is back in fashion...<\/p>\n\n\n\n
