Would you like to learn more about the creator of this brand or how Cuchara o Tenedor came about?

This post is intended to introduce myself to those of you who don't know me, and tell you a little bit about myself. If you've discovered this project in person, at a market, you've already seen me; I'm the person who was on the other side of the table. I'm the person in charge of designing, creating and communicating.

My name is Blanca Alcañiz and I am the person behind this project. I am a Cancer with Sagittarius rising, which makes me a emotional, intuitive and creative woman. I love travelling, exploring and discovering new places where I can soak up everything that a new culture has to offer. I love nature and the oceans, as well as all fauna and flora, especially marine life, and I believe in values such as respect and love. I love creating, diving, listening to music, enjoying walks with Mia, my beautiful dog who you can see in the photo, and spending time with my family and friends.

HOW I ENDED UP LIVING IN MENORCA

I was born in a town in Teruel called Alcañiz. Yes, that's right, my surname is the same as the place where I was born, which is quite curious. I had a happy and beautiful childhood in my village, and at the age of 18 I went to study Interior Design in Barcelona. This was undoubtedly a time of great change, a great evolution in my whole being. I only returned to Alcañiz for short periods of time. There I became independent, I grew up... and during my studies... Art and Design specialising in Interior Design, I was able to study jewellery, screen printing, photography, graphic design, etc.

A couple of years later, while living in Barcelona, I went for the first time to spend the summer on my beloved island, Menorca, with the intention of finding work as an interior designer. I didn't find the job I wanted, but I fell in love with the island and since then I have returned to Menorca almost every year (I've lost count) and in fact it is where I currently live. In Menorca I discovered another way of life, the one that the sea conveys when you live in its surroundings, where you can live in a natural and inspiring environment that allows you to slow lifestyle.

A few years after first setting foot on the island, I think it was a matter of intuition that led me to start selling Cuchara o Tenedor products during the summer season at markets in the villages of Menorca. I remember the satisfying feeling of working for myself and the excitement of doing something new. In fact, with hindsight, I realise that I wasn't aware of all the work involved in starting a business, as it not only requires work in many artistic disciplines, but also marketing, copywriting and something as essential as self-awareness.
