Spoon or Fork in media

If you know me, you'll know that cameras, microphones, interviews, or simply being the centre of attention are not my thing. I'm not sure why, but it's something that has always made me feel very embarrassed and held me back. However, with my project, I've left that feeling behind (or at least I'm trying to) and prioritised my brand over my nerves and fear of exposing myself, because I know that I have nothing to lose. Instead, I see these situations as opportunities.

The first time I appeared in the media was many years ago, where TeleAragón I was interviewed at an expo in my hometown, Alcañiz (Teruel). Shortly afterwards, I'm not quite sure how they found me, but I was interviewed by telephone by a radio station in the Basque Country, which was a bit random considering that I was born in Aragon, moved to Barcelona to study when I was 18 and ended up living in the Balearic Islands, but it was cool. I remember it and I know I was really nervous, but being on the phone put me more in my comfort zone.

Well, a couple of years ago, a friend of mine from Menorca got in touch with me. IB3 requesting an interview at my workshop by Recycling Day, As I mentioned earlier, these situations initially evoke panic and denial in me, making me reluctant to allow journalists and cameras into my workshop, ha ha ha, but in the end, the affection and love I have for this brand made me say yes.

Of course, I made a rookie mistake, because in the television interview they did with me, they forgot to mention my website—their mistake—because the only thing that appeared in the headline was «El taller de la Blanca» (Blanca's Workshop)... Oh my goodness, when I saw it, considering all the personal effort it took me to agree to let them come to my workshop to film and interview me... and then I didn't even mention my brand name, or my website, or anything!

A little more and I'll have a fit...

Following this interview, photographers have come for newspapers, interviews for magazines such as Mondo Menorca and other newspapers such as La Comarca, Onda Cero, … And in all of them, I mentioned my brand name at least once and where to find me, ha ha ha. So, there you have another anecdote, and here's to many more to come... because that's what it's all about, isn't it? Getting out of our comfort zone, facing our fears and MOVING FORWARD!

So if your fears paralyse you in any situation, ask yourself why not? …

This year, I've already gotten myself into another mess that includes an interview, a photo shoot, and a press conference... That says it all.

So I'll let you know 🙂

A hug
